New Airbnb rules: Guests will no longer be asked to do laundry, wash dishes or haul away trash

Airbnb has introduced a new house rules policy aimed at eliminating laborious checkout chores after years of customer complaints about unreasonable host demands. Under the updated guidelines taking effect Nov. 20, hosts are generally prohibited from requiring guests to strip bedsheets, do laundry, wash and put away dishes, or haul trash off-site. The short-term rental platform is also standardizing house rules into seven transparent categories while banning host-imposed fines and unauthorized secondary rental contracts.
