Russia Talks Peace—Then Says the War Must Continue
I examine the central contradiction in Moscow’s latest peace messaging: Russia says renewed U.S.-Ukraine-Russia talks could occur in Abu Dhabi after November 4, while Dmitry Peskov says the “special military operation” must continue. The Kremlin has not confirmed a date, has ruled out European participation, and appears to favor lower-level delegations rather than a Trump-Zelensky-Putin meeting. I also consider how the November 3 U.S. midterms could shape diplomatic pressure on Kyiv and Moscow.
I cover reported Bulgarian footage of an unmanned maritime drone approaching the Liberian-flagged Khan Ship Jet, Nord Stream messaging, and Russia’s claim that 613 Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow. Beyond the battlefield, I look at Putin’s Africa summit outreach against the reality of roughly $30 billion in Russia-Africa trade, a fake Euromaidan Press clone used to blame Ukraine for the Kramatorsk bus strike, and Russia’s new criminalization of VPNs and disappearing messages. My conclusion: Washington must stop pressuring Zelensky and start applying pressure to Putin.
