I examine Ukraine’s reported overnight drone raid into Russia, including damage and disruption at Yandex’s Sosovo data center in the Ryazan region, drones pushing toward the Omsk refinery, and a fire at Gazprom Nevkhim Salavat in Bashkortostan. Omsk processes roughly 440,000 barrels per day and supplies major shares of Russia’s gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel; Salavat is also a major refining and petrochemical complex supporting Russian forces. I also track the continuing fire at the Samara oil-pumping station.

I examine Ukraine’s reported battlefield results following Operation Volvaldi, including 250 captured Russian soldiers and claimed daily Russian casualty figures exceeding 1,900. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Drapatyi’s stated priority is clear: use unmanned systems, long-range strikes, precision planning, and unconventional tactics to disrupt Russian logistics while preserving Ukrainian personnel rather than matching Russia’s mass assaults.

I also look at DevDroid’s combat-tested Droid TW 12.7 and Droid NW-40 ground robots, which Ukraine says are now fielded in significant numbers. The larger strategic race is air defense: Ukraine says its new interceptors can stop most Shahed drones, but needs partner funding and components to scale production before winter. I examine Ukraine’s reported first combat use of the FP-7 tactical ballistic missile amid a major overnight drone and missile campaign against targets across Russia. With a reported range of up to 300 kilometers and a payload of up to 200 kilograms, the FP-7 could put Russia’s dense near-border logistics network, ammunition sites, airfields, and glide-bomb infrastructure at greater risk—if Ukraine can sustain serial production and employ it effectively.

I also break down reported strikes on the Samara oil-pumping and petrochemical complex, the Lukoil Volgograd refinery, and facilities in Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, and elsewhere. On the defensive side, I assess Russia’s 108-drone attack on Ukraine, F-16 cannon intercepts, and Ukraine’s efforts to scale interceptor drones. Ukraine endured an extremely dangerous day of Russian attacks stretching from western regions to the front-line areas, with ballistic strikes hitting Odesa and parts of the city losing power. President Zelenskyy warned that Russia is preparing to intensify attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure as the country moves toward fall and winter.

In this update, I break down the scale of the attacks, including more than 500 Russian attack drones reported during the day, the suspension of rail service into Sumy, strikes on civilian and economic targets, and the growing pressure from sharply rising fuel prices.
