This was an expected, but serious response from Iran
In response to Iran firing missiles at two US warships in the Middle East, the US military just destroyed three Iranian oil tankers. This is actually a pretty big escalation in a few ways. First off, the launching missiles at our aircraft carrier is significant and not something we’ve seen in a while but then the US response was serious, actually sinking commercial vessels in this key waterway.
That said, we’re still at a bit of an impasse where neither Iran nor the US seem willing to give an inch as the pressure mounts in different ways.

Was Iran be on the verge of becoming a nuclear power—and was the U.S. left with any real choice? This explosive discussion examines Iran’s nuclear program, enriched uranium, the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), Trump’s Iran strategy, Iranian missiles, terrorism, IRGC proxy networks, sanctions, and the growing threat to American forces and U.S. interests in the Middle East. The Ryazan Refinery has been hit and is burning heavily this morning as Ukraine knocked out Russia's 3rd largest refinery. This refinery accounts for a massive 5% of Russian fuel supplies, and it's ceasing of operations could cost the Russians dearly now that only 30% of their refinery capacity was operational before this attack. In the Middle East Iran has once again threatened major attacks and offensive action further against US forces in the region, claiming that the time of "reciprocal strikes" is over once again showing the war is far from over and may be escalating very soon. Europe continues preparing for the worst case scenario with Russia as they announce the threat of a wave of assassination attacks being attempted by Russia in Germany in the coming months. In the Middle East US forces are now beginning a withdrawal from Kurdistan in Northern Iraq which is expected to be complete by the end of this month, signaling an end to US presence in the area after the return of US forces in the Mid-2010's. Ukraine also destroyed at least 2 attack helicopters and damaged another at the Adler airport near Sochi, and have also targeted a munitions ship in the Mediterranean that was travelling off the coast of Algeria or Libya.

Overnight Ukraine struck two more oil refineries in Russia which might seem pretty normal at this point but according to a new assessment in the Wall Street Journal, the costs are really starting to add up.
We also just had Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visit Moscow and Kyiv in a new push for peace. From what we can tell, the talks seem to have gone well, and it’s notable these two visited Ukraine at all. However, there’s no indication there’s going to be any major changes anytime soon.
