Crudely constructed Bedouin-style tents made from scraps of discarded waste stretch as far as the eye can see.

Scenic Playa Del Trampolin is a hive of activity under the blazing north African sun drenching the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.

But no-one here will be writing ‘wish you were here’ postcards to their relatives.

In fact, if hell had a beach, this would be it.

Over the past decade, I have filed reports from migrant camps across Europe – mainly from northern France and Greece – and in all my years as a journalist, I have never seen anything like this.

Welcome to the "Midterm Report," the Daily Signal's new election podcast. Every Saturday between now and Election Day, Rob Bluey breaks down the biggest stories in politics with the interviews, insights, and analysis you won't get from legacy media.

On our first episode, pollster Brent Buchanan joins the show to discuss the first-ever RNC Midterm Convention in Dallas, explaining the split inside the GOP base between Trump Republicans and traditional Republicans, and a 26-point enthusiasm gap between them. He walks through why affordability is dominating voter behavior, why only 88% of Trump 2024 voters are committing to a Republican for Congress, why the "socialist" label alone won't win races, and the one number you should actually watch in every poll from now to November.

Then, historian Victor Davis Hanson joins us on his brand-new book, "The Counterrevolution: The Fall and Rise of Donald Trump and the MAGA Movement." Hanson explains what "counterrevolution" really means, how Trump's second term targets causes instead of symptoms, and how a man written off after Jan. 6 mounted what he calls the greatest political comeback in modern American history. He also compares Trump to Reagan, walks through the lawfare and debanking years, explains how Trump won on class instead of race, and gives his odds for the House and Senate this November.

About The Daily Signal
The Daily Signal is a conservative news and commentary outlet founded in 2014 by The Heritage Foundation and now an independent media organization with its own board and leadership as of June 2024. Based in Washington, D.C., the Daily Signal covers politics, policy, and culture with reporting, interviews, investigations, and documentaries, including the stories the national press leaves alone.

About Victor Davis Hanson
Victor Davis Hanson is a classicist and military historian, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford, and a senior contributor to the Daily Signal. He is the author of more than two dozen books, including "The Case for Trump," "The Dying Citizen," and "The End of Everything." He hosts "Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words."

This morning, Putin’s forces have attacked a train traveling from Ukraine to Poland - exploding a drone on the locomotive itself which was on the same route to a nearby train carrying top British and European leadership. This is obviously a dangerous escalation and a currently developing story. Meanwhile, Russia has launched large-scale attacks near Poland’s border crossings causing explosions at gas stations in Ukraine - as some officials begin calling for an emergency shutdown of border crossings as Russia escalates into dangerous territory. Meanwhile, reports claim that a Russian drone was fired into Lithuania just hours ago violating NATO airspace enroute to Kaliningrad — however some sources contradict the report. And we also have more details on that. And we also have news from Iran, that Iranian forces in Yemen are preparing a new massive offensive against Saudi backed forces on the Red Sea coast as the situation continues spiraling out of control.

UPDATE: More details have emerged which suggest that Boris Johnson and other top NATO Officials were aboard the train that was directly In FRONT of the train that was attacked by Russia's drone. The details are still not extremely clear, but nonetheless, the core claim still holds that Russia did likely attempt to target NATO officials. Apologies for any confusion.

There's no clear end in sight

So the situation in Yemen is not good. The Houthis are solidifying their gains, Yemeni government troops sort of melted away and it doesn’t look like anyone is coming to help. At least not yet.

Today we’re joined by Mohammed al-Basha, a middle east analyst and the founder of Basher Report Risk Advisory to discuss what’s going on.
We get into why this kicked off now, how this ties into the US-Iran war, what to expect from the Saudis in the coming months and more.

The Kremlin relies on endless human-wave tactics to sustain the front line, structural logistics failures, command vulnerabilities, and targeted Ukrainian strikes continue to undermine Russia’s long-term war effort.

In this video, former Commanding General of US Army Europe Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges breaks down why Russia's willingness to absorb massive casualties cannot offset the fundamental strategic vulnerabilities of Vladimir Putin's invasion.
