I examine the reported Ukrainian strikes that reached from Sochi and Novorossiysk to Makhachkala, Dagestan—Russia’s only ice-free deep-water port on the Caspian Sea. Makhachkala is described as a key Russia-Iran logistics node for military-related cargo, including components and Shahed-type attack UAVs. Ukraine also reported damage to fuel-oil storage in Novorossiysk and three Russian vessels: the Admiral Essen frigate, the Pyotr Morgunov landing ship, and a Zelenodolsk-class small minesweeper.

I also look at the reported 3,000-kilometer FB-1 drone strike on a Siberian gas-processing facility, along with strikes on radar, UAV, command, and ammunition sites. The strategic question is whether Russia can defend an immense rear area while concentrating air-defense assets around Moscow, favored locations, and the front. I close with Russia’s overnight UAV attacks on Ukraine, including the Olena sunflower-oil plant and a reported double-tap strike on rescuers in Dnipro.

I walk through the extraordinary October 9–15 sequence that, in my view, raised serious questions about U.S. leverage in the war: Trump’s announced Russian diesel arrangement, the Miami meeting involving Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, reported pressure on Ukraine to halt refinery strikes, and calls for new Ukrainian leadership. I also examine the practical problems surrounding the proposed diesel volumes and the legal restrictions on Russian fuel entering the United States.

I trace the claimed energy ceasefire that Ukraine and Russia said they had not agreed to, continued Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy grid, disputes over warning intelligence, and reported Starlink and Starshield restrictions affecting drones. With senators pushing back and the United States reportedly considering shadow-fleet sanctions relief and a transfer of frozen Russian assets, the strategic question is clear: why was Kyiv facing pressure while Moscow continued its attacks? The answer matters for sanctions enforcement, battlefield leverage, and deterrence well beyond Ukraine.

In the first eleven days of the protests, from 28 December 2025 to 7 January 2026, Iranians took to the streets in towns and cities across the country. This is their story.

It begins in Tehran's bazaar, where the sharp fall of the rial and the soaring price of the dollar brought people onto the streets. Over the following days the protests spread across Iran. They took hold first in many smaller towns and cities before growing in scale and reaching some of the country's major cities. Anger over the economic crisis soon became something much broader.

The episode follows the people who took to the streets in those early days, the growing unrest and the crackdown that had already begun. Many showed extraordinary courage, often far from the attention of the outside world, and their stories were soon overshadowed by the scale of what happened on 8 and 9 January — 18 and 19 Dey.

I examine Ukraine’s reported October 9 strikes inside Russia, including a second Yandex data center hit in two nights. Yandex said several modules at its Kaluga facility were disabled, following a strike on a site in Ryazan the previous day. That is notable, but I caution against treating two attacks as proof of a sustained data-center campaign. Russia also claimed 505 interceptions against roughly 450 reported Ukrainian drones—a figure that plainly deserves skepticism and context.

I also assess the reported fire at the Radinsky Experimental Plant in Tver Oblast, which produces Desalin-M fuel components used for Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles, and the strike on Lukoil’s Ukhta refinery in Komi, more than 1,700 kilometers from Ukraine. These targets point to pressure on missile production, fuel logistics, and air defenses. Meanwhile, Russian strikes killed civilians in Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned that a failure of air defenses could make winter survival a grave concern.

I examine a night in which reported Ukrainian long-range drone activity disrupted Moscow-area aviation while Kyiv appeared to avoid Russian oil refineries after Donald Trump declared an immediate energy ceasefire—an arrangement that neither side publicly appeared to recognize. Instead, Ukrainian forces reportedly targeted Russian UAV and electronic-warfare facilities in occupied Donetsk, a troop site near Khrustalny in Luhansk, and the aftermath of the October 10 strike on the Novoshakhtinsk petroleum-products terminal.

I also assess Russia’s response: a Kh-59 guided missile and 121 drones, including 76 jet-powered Shaheds, with strikes reported across Ukraine and heavy casualties in Kharkiv. On the front, fighting was especially intense around Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Kupiansk. The strategic issue is whether political declarations can restrain a war in which both infrastructure pressure and battlefield tempo remain high.

I examine reports that Ukrainian drones struck Yandex facilities three times in under a week, including sites identified as Sosovo and Vladimir. Using the IODA connectivity figures discussed in the video, I trace the reported fall in Yandex cloud availability—from near-full reachability to roughly 65 percent, then about 22 percent—and the resulting disruption claims affecting Yandex Go, taxi, payments, retail, and banking-linked services.

I also assess the more consequential claim: that the outages coincided with a sharp decline in Russian bot traffic. I review Cloudflare figures, reported shifts around pro-Kremlin accounts and AfD messaging, and claims involving MAGA discourse and health misinformation—while separating observable traffic data from viral overreach. The strategic stake is whether attacks on digital infrastructure can impose meaningful costs on Russia’s war-supporting economy and information operations, and why pressure should be directed at Putin rather than Kyiv.

I also gave additional time to Ryan McBeth and others who nuanced this story. Weird to kind of retract your video in your video, but this is more of focusing.

President Trump says the war with Iran will end soon, but things are still very tense. U.S. forces have launched major strikes to destroy Iranian oil tankers, cutting off the money the regime uses to pay for its wars.
